Buying in bulk is arithmetic before it is anything else, and the arithmetic is done on every card here: the price of the box, the number of pieces, and the price per person underneath. That third figure is the one that decides between two boxes that look identical in a photograph. It also decides between a good idea and a bad one: forty cents a head buys a keyring or a token with a card, and two dollars a head buys something that reads as a proper present.

The other thing bulk changes is what happens when it arrives. Thirty pieces in one bag need thirty small bags, thirty cards or thirty envelopes before they become presents, and that is an evening of work nobody plans for. The boxed sets on this page arrive already divided, a card with each figure, a bag with each keyring, and they cost more for exactly that reason.
